How it All Began
We developed this idea because we’re indies, have published books, own a publishing firm, and are experienced with the entire publishing process. Complicated distributor guidelines, and the high costs associated with obtaining quality work should be non-factors. Without access to quality work for a reasonable price, indie publishers are forced to publish third-hand quality (garbage), but the prices of their books must be reasonably competitive with major publishers who can afford fancy-schmancy design.
All indies require a distributor ready file to publish their book, regardless of format. Problem is, there are few options on the market and those few either only work on one platform or have little to no design options. It was after several years of research and paying upwards of $2200 per book just for quality interior formatting and design when the concept for Emper was born; something less expensive, less time-consuming, and has more features.

How does Emper work?
The software is pre-programmed with all distributor guidelines and equipped with a wizard to guide you in a way that prevents mistakes. Simply answer a few questions, make a few selections, and upload your manuscript in a Word docx file, and Emper handles the rest.
Does Emper design cover artwork?
Currently, we do not. However, this feature is currently in the works!
Does Emper only design paperback interiors?
Emper also converts manuscripts into an ePUB (eBook) as well! ePUB files are the preferred electronic format for distributors such as Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and Smashwords.
Do I need to download Emper to use it?
No. Emper is completely web-based, so no downloads are necessary.
Is there a limit on how many books I can create?
Nope. Create as many books as your heart desires
What if I need to make a change to a published book?
Your interior files are saved to your library of books on your User Dashboard. Simply log in and click on the book that requires changing, edit the content from the Lectern Dashboard, and export (download) the newly edited files. You would then upload your files to your distributor.
How do I purchase a license?
Does Emper offer direct publishing services?
Not quite yet. Emper is a program that assists publishers and authors with design and formatting. However, this option is being explored.

Do you offer a free demo?
Yes. You may browse the database and tinker with different templates and tools without paying for anything. However, to export/download any files, payment will be required.
